In the Victorian "Language of Flowers," lisianthus symbolizes appreciation and an outgoing personality, making it one of the favorite flowers to give as a gift. This flower with fleshy, oval leaves grows in pairs along the stems and can even resemble a rose in bloom and, when fully bloomed, has the air of a peony. These flowers are readily available all year round in purple, lavender, pink, red, peach, yellow, white, and bi-colors.
